I am not really a museum person but I am glad I was dragged into this one by my friend - Botero's work generates happy thoughts, enough that I bought a couple of prints to bring home to share. It's free, doesn't take long to go through all the galleries. Try it!
The collection of art was great. Bolero at its best. The location is great as well with many hints to do before and after muses.
We are fans of Botero and one of our goals was to visit the museum. What a treat! Easy access, not too expensive.
I didn't think we'd get to this museum because when I was looking at the map before we left, it looked like it would be too far from where we would be. But then we were walking down the street and happened to pass it. The man at the door encouraged us to come in and told us it was free!Nicely laid out, many wonderful Botero pieces, but also a really nice selection of smaller works by other artists (Picasso, Degas, Klimt, Monet, etc.). Lovely!
The coins displayed in this museum are lovely but it is small and the exhibits are randomly arranged.
You're allowed to !See some of the corpulent paintings of Fernando Boltero and just allow your tummy to jingle inside ! Think Volume vs.
This is a fun place to wander. The artist's principal theme is pudgy people but he has also donated some very impressive works from other artists to the people of Columbia. That is a very selfless and fine gesture by this artist.
I'm a huge fan of Botero's works and if you are too, Museo Botero should be your priority when you visit Bogota. It has lots of Botero's works. Not to mention the famous "Fatty Mona Lisa"
Love this small and wonderful museum, filled with Botero's paintings and sculptures. Take the time to walk around the area, winding in and out of the alleys and back streets. It's gorgeous.
We toured the Museo. Very nice and free. Unusual art, but good to see. Botero is Colombia, so lots of his art here, and from many other artists, Picasso, Monet, etc. Enjoy!
