The cultural pride of Midland is the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center. It is superb. Acoustics are great! Access is easy. Location is convenient. Event programing is well above par, with many diverse events from ZZ Top to the Nutcracker. Saw Flashdance last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. If I had one minor complaint, it's that the seats could be a little bigger. I'm 6'3". Leg room was adequate but shoulder to shoulder was a little close.
It's hard to believe that Diana Ross would come to Midland/Odessa. I would never thought that would happen. I have to say it was an incredible experience. I've been a fan forever. She may be 70 years old, but she was wonderful. She kept having the house lights turned on. At the end of the concert she said that everyone came to see her, but she loved seeing everyone there. She said she'd be happy to come back. Wagner Noel only has 1800 seats so it was a pretty small venue for her. So glad I got to be a part of this.
Went for a piano guys concert, third row center! Staff was helpful, I only saw concessions for alcoholic beverages, would like to have other drink choices.
Wagner noel is a PRIVATE venture, with 90% of all seating going to proivate individuals, during "pre-sale" events. The rest of the public gets the crappy seats, and then, very few at that.Example...tickets go on sale to the oublic at 10: a.m.. At 10: a.m., the seating chart pops up, on their site, and already 90% OR MORE have been sold at the PRE SALE event, leaving the worst seats for the general public. So, unless you have an IN with someone at Wagner Noel, expect to get the crappy seats. It would be impossible to sell the amount of seats taken by the so-called pre-sale, in less than 2 or 3 seconds, after opening the site to the public, and they can't sel that many tickets, with people standing in line, either. The only way to get tickets after this is to pay the scalpers at 2 other ticket outlets, 3, 4, up to 10 times what the original ticket sold for.So, in conclusion, unless you are in the social elete ,in Midland, you get screwed.
My family was there for a economics discussion & this venue made it feel very intimate. Excellent facility for what we were there for. I personally love smaller places & this one is up to date & wonderful! Wagner Noël Performing Arts CenterPhysical Address:1310 N. FM1788Midland, Texas 79707
I had my doubts as I watched the "Swiss Cheese" building going up. However, I have attended several performances there now, and the venue does not disappoint. I do understand that the local ballet people have some criticisms but the faults are not visible or experienced from the patrons. The building is stunning on the inside, and there is really not a bad seat in the house. Wonderfully located between Midland and Odessa to draw both crowds. There are lots of different kinds of performances going on all the time. My most recent visit was to see the Harlem Dance Theater.
WOW is all I can say. The Wagner Noel is awesome in its acoustics. There are no bad seats. It is between Midland and Odessa on Hwy 191. Come and enjoy any concert event. We have been there many times and have seen great performances like Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Ron White, Bill Cosby, Heart etc
We are so lucky to have such a great place to see live shows!! Have seen 5 shows this year, and the venue is top notch! Constantly having great shows with big stars!!!
